8th Annual Weed Pull Day
Thursday, June 18th, 2026 at the Mikesell-Pott Recreation Area at Lake DeSmet, the Johnson County Weed and Pest Office, with its more than 20 sponsors, hosted members of the community in an effort to educate and help reduce the spread of invasive weeds.
With recording breaking attendance, this years event yielded a total of 2,254.44 pounds pulled in a day and the longest intact root pulled measuring 63 inches!
Fun was had by all with our youngest puller, 5 years old, collecting 72.70 lbs and our local High School Football Team showing up and pulling 750 lbs!
